Freewheelers M.C. Ireland were formed in 1979 in Waterford City. We were at that period one of the first clubs in the country who were riding what was considered to be different, that is i.e. chopped and custom built bikes which led very quickly to the whole club driving chopped and customised Harley Davidsons which is considered now to be a must to be part of the club.
The ever expanding custom bike scene
in Ireland led to the club running it's first Custom & Classic Bike Show in 1987 which
was an immediate success as it gave bike builders in Ireland somewhere to show their
creations. The show itself is held on the weekend before the June Bank Holiday.
The show is now run at Tramore Racecourse, Tramore, Co. Waterford and turns the
normally sleepy seaside area into a Mecca for custom bikes and trikes of all shapes and
sizes. The standard of bikes on display is on par with anywhere in the world and in
the custom building world to come away from Waterford with a trophy is still considered to
be the most prestigious in Ireland. The show is now known as
The South-East Custom & Classic Bike Show.
